The Chef

Kay Read, Joshua Creek Ranch’s Chef and Food Service Manager, has been with this organization for 6+ years, but started cooking in childhood with her mom. Although Kay’s degree is in anthropology, she became especially interested in the culinary arts when she had her own nursery and landscape company and was able to experiment with fresh produce and herbs, making healthy meals and snacks for her family. Kay’s skill and creativity when she, in her own words, “plays with food” are a natural gift …maybe it came with being born in New Orleans. More than simply a natural born chef, Kay is a natural born manager whose support staff loves working with her. Kay’s greatest delight is your enjoyment of the meals served at Joshua Creek Ranch.

Michael Davis, Chef, (also born in Louisiana) has been cooking since graduation from college 25 years ago, where he majored in hotel restaurant management. Over the years Michael has worked as sous chef or executive chef at several fine San Antonio and Boerne area restaurants and private clubs; at one point Michael was a partner in a successful Boerne restaurant. Michael’s creativity with wild game is the source of new and exciting entrees that are served at Joshua Creek Ranch…which is a natural fit, since his hobbies are hunting and deep sea fishing.
