Deer & Turkey
You'll experience Texas Hill Country whitetail deer, Axis deer, and turkey hunting at its best from the blinds on spectacular Joshua Creek Ranch! It is not unusual to spot trophy-size Axis bucks with 30-inch+ beams grazing throughout the ranch. Rio Grande turkeys can also be seen feeding and roosting especially in the protection of the forested acreage and the Guadalupe River banks.
Over 20 blinds and feeders are maintained year-round, providing hunters with one of the most satisfying hunting experiences in the Texas Hill Country. Guests can hunt for Hill Country whitetail and/or Rio Grande turkey in the seasons established by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Axis deer can be hunted year-round.
For Axis and whitetail bucks, a guide will accompany you to your blind. For doe hunts or turkey hunts, a guide is recommended, but if you prefer, our guides will take you to your blind and come back for you when you’re ready. As soon as you harvest your deer or turkey, give us a call on your cell phone and we’ll be right there to help you recover your harvest.
Aging, processing and/or taxidermy of your harvested animal is available for an additional charge. Just ask your hunting guide or guest services for information. In addition, we have an excellent referral to assist you in the maintenance of your taxidermy mount, whether you acquired it here or at another hunting location.
Reservations are required. Hunters are also required to sight in their rifles before their hunt. Joshua Creek Ranch has a convenient shooting area that guests use free of charge for this purpose. For your convenience, you may purchase your hunting license at the Joshua Creek Ranch Pro Shop. To promote ethical hunting practices, guests are charged a harvest fee if they shoot and blood is found, but no carcass is recovered.
